If you are a Mauritian company, we invite you to use the toolbox "Search all regulations and taxes" to import goods and services to Mauritius in accordance with the laws of Mauritius. You will be able to find for each product and for every country where you want to ship it from: custom duties and taxes, excises, regulations, shipping documents, import controls both in Mauritius and export controls in the supplying country, etc...
As a shortcut we also propose the list of the key import regulations of Mauritius.
Discover below the various guidelines of Mauritian law in relation to importing.
Certain goods are allowed to entry into Mauritius only when you produce the import permit or authorization from the relevant authority (ies). If you do not have the import permit or authorization, the item will be detained and referred to the relevant authority for approval.
Controlled goods may be subject to certain types of restrictions and we invite you to refer to a non-exhaustive list of such items.
Before importing goods into Mauritius you should ensure that they do not fall into any of the categories of prohibited goods. Prohibited goods cannot be imported, exported, transited, sold or circulated in Mauritius. Among prohibited goods are weapons, narcotics, psychotropic substances and hazardous chemical substances.
Please refer here for a list of non-exhaustive prohibited goods.
Some importers such as Government bodies, local authorities, para-statal bodies, foreigners, laboratories, clinics, embassies and more may be exempted from the payment of the fee.
An import permit or an approval to clear controlled goods will normally be issued within 3 working days provided all required information, particulars and documents are submitted by applicants.
