The process in order to get compliance

Process for complying:

Fill out prescribed form attached.

 

i. Importer submits application for clearance on prescribed form
ii Payment in cash or crossed cheque to Government of Mauritius.
iii. NAPRO Officer verifies documents
iv. Importer informs NAPRO of arrival of consignment
v. NAPRO officer carries inspection
vi. Clearance issued if all requirements are satisfactory vii. In case of non compliance, product is recommended for destruction or seized and disposed, all cost to be incurred by importer.

Average time to get compliance:
Depending on arrangements for inspection, same day or day following inspection
Cost estimate to get compliance:

Application fee (for commercial purposes) Rs. 1,000. per consignment

 

Clearance fee
(a) cigarettes :-
i. exceeding 2,000 sticks --- Rs. 20 per 1000 or part thereof
ii. not exceeding 2,000 sticks --- Rs. 500

(b) cigarillos :-
i. exceeding 1000 units ---Rs. 20 per 1,000 or part thereof
ii. not exceeding 1,000 units --- Rs. 500

(c) Smoking tobacco --- Rs. 50 per kg or part thereof
(c) cigars --- Rs. 50 per kg or part thereof
(c) Other tobacco products --- Rs. 110 per kg or part thereof

Once I have it, what do I have to do:

1. NAPRO Officer verifies document(s) and Inspect product.

2. NAPRO Officer inspect consignment and report to management for clearance.

3. Clearance obtained: Certificate of Inspection forwarded to Mauritius Revenue Authority to authorize delivery from customs/bonds.

Validity of the compliance:
Six months

1. Proforma Invoice / Invoice 2. Certificate of incorporated of company 3. Trade Licence 4. Business Registration Card 5. National Identity card of Representative 6. Bill of lading/Aiway bill 4. Copy of health warning template/s approved by the Ministry of Health & Quality Life.
