The historical monuments of  Mtskheta, or Upper Svaneti, the village of Ushguli.

Georgia is one of the most ancient nations in the world; it has several sites which are listed UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as: the Cathedral of Bagrati and the Gelati monastery, the historical monuments of  Mtskheta, or  Upper Svaneti.

Health and Safety

Health Precautions
There are no vaccination requirements for short stays; however, for a long stay, an anti-rabies vaccination is strongly advised. There is a risk of malaria (P. vivax exclusively) from July to October in the South East of the country.

You are advised to avoid eating raw or undercooked foods, and to drink only bottled or filtered water.

There is great diversity in Georgia's climate. The western part is humid and subtropical, while the eastern part has a continental climate characterized by quite cold winters and hot summers. The temperature ranges between 0 and 5°C in winter, and between 30 and 35° in summer. The coldest month is January. May and June are the wettest months.

Eating

Food Specialties
Foreign visitors usually like khachapuri which is a quiche filled with slightly salted cheese, and muzhuzi which is a dish of boiled pigs' trotters with vinegar. You should also taste kharcho which is a mutton and rice soup.
Drinks
Georgia is the oldest wine producing region in the world. It is worth mentioning mukhuzani, tetra (the yellow color of straw), tsinandali and teliani.
