*** Pre-Market Approval Permit is required for fish products.
*** A Health Certificate from the country of origin is required.
(1) No person shall import into Mauritius, a consignment of fish or fish product, unless he is registered with the Permanent Secretary.
(2) A person shall apply to be registered with the Permanent Secretary in such form and manner as he may determine.
(3) On receipt of an application, the Permanent Secretary may require the applicant to submit such additional information as may be necessary to consider his application.
Payment of annual import fee to the MRA-Customs. To be eligible to import, an importer shall have to be registered on the electronic system of the Mauritius Revenue Authority. He shall have to produce the Registration Certificate issued by this Ministry to the Mauritius Revenue Authority and pay an import fee of Rs 25,000/-.
Once payment is made, the importer is eligible for import and may submit an application to import Fish & Fish Products on Tradenet portal (Registration required) p>
Clearance of Imported Consignment at Port of Entry.
A landing permit is issued by the Ministry of Fisheries after verification of the consignment and accompanying document (i.e. 1. Proforma Invoice / Invoice 2. Certificate of Phytosanitary / Health Certificate from Exporting Country) 3. Health clearance from the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life.
To register as an importer, an appropriate form has to be filled and submitted to the Ministry with a copy of following documents:
(i) A valid Trade Licence
(ii) Certificate of Incorporation or Business Registration card
(iii) Utility bill for proof of address
(iv) Proof of Storage and transport facilities
(v) Approved quarantine facilities for importation of live fish, crustacean, mollusc
