The process in order to get compliance

Process for complying:


i. Importer to register with NAPRO
ii. Importer submits application for clearance on prescribed form for each consignment
iii Payment in cash or crossed cheque to Government of Mauritius
iv. NAPRO Officer verifies documents
v. Importer informs NAPRO of arrival of consignment
vi. NAPRO officer carries out inspection
vii. Clearance issued if all requirements are satisfactory
viii. In case of non compliance, product is recommended for destruction or seized and disposed, all cost to be incurred by importer.

Average time to get compliance:
1 - 3 days
Cost estimate to get compliance:


(i) Application fee --- Rs. 1,000. per consignment
(ii) Clearance fee
(a) black tea products for blending purposes --- Rs. 20 per kg or part thereof
(b) green leaf products in packets of 1 kg or above --- Rs. 40 per kg or part thereof (c) black tea products, green tea products and not exceeding 2 kgs and intended ---
(i) for own consumption; (ii) for gift; or (iii) to be used as sample --- NIL
(d) Other tea products --- Rs. 300 per kgs or part thereof
(ii) Registration fee --- NIL

Once I have it, what do I have to do:

For registration process:
1. Certificate of incorporated of company
2. Trade Licence
3. Business Registration Card
4. National Identity card of Representative

Validity of the compliance:
One month for one consignment
Required Documents to process:

Importer need the following:
(i) Pro-forma invoice/ Invoice
(ii) Original Bill of Lading/ Aiway bill;
(iii) Phytosanitary Certificate from a competent authority from the country of origin, certifying that the product is safe for human consumption.
