Import Permit (WHEAT OR MESLIN FLOUR)

The submission of an application for an import permit is carried out electronically under the TradeNet Phase 5 System. The individual or company wishing to submit their own applications electronically have to register themselves with the Mauritius Network Services Ltd (MNS).
Any person who imports any controlled goods shall apply for an import permit from the Permanent Secretary.
(1) The application shall : - (a) be made in triplicate; (b) be made in the form set out in the Third Schedule.
(2) Subject to regulation 9, an application shall be submitted to the Permanent Secretary: -(a) prior to the shipment of the controlled goods; or (b) in relation to goods in the Freeport zone, prior to the removal of any controlled goods from the Freeport zone.
(3) The Permanent Secretary may, before issuing a permit: - (a) consult such person he considers necessary; (b) request the applicant to furnish such additional information or document as he may reasonably require.
NOTE: This product needs to be sent to MSB (Mauritius Standards Bureau) for testing purposes prior to the clearance of the goods from the Customs.
Applications are submitted for Import Risk Analysis prior to delivery of PIP.
For low risk commodities and regularly imported products PIP are issued within 48 hrs .
For medium and high risk commodities additional information may be required for Pest Risk Analysis prior to approval of PIP. Issuance of PIP range from 1 week to 4 weeks depending on risk category of commodity and information available to undertake risk analysis.
Customs broker fee/ TradeNet system fee
Clearance of Imported Consignment at Port of Entry.
Certificate of Inspection forwarded to Mauritius Revenue Authority to authorize delivery from customs/bonds.
Required for Clearance of Goods
1. Proforma Invoice / Invoice 2. Import License 3. Certificate of Phytosanitary from Exporting Country
4. A certificate from the Government Analyst Division of the Ministry of Health.
Applicant will need to fill the official Application form for a PIP Additional information may be required depending on the risk category of the imported commodities.
